Session Recap #22 – Tos Calos – The UnderDungeon

DM’s Note: This session was an Intro for Janet, and had a lot of guests and a table of about 10 by the time we finished. Kait was in the co-dm chair, so I might have missed some things, send me a discord if so.
The Party was split as the session started.

Session Structure

  1. Right Chamber + Library
  2. Left Chamber + Library
  3. Gold Vault
  4. Central Chamber
  5. Boss Pillar

Right Chamber and Library

Primarily a fight with Skeletons and two wizards, Nameless and Kangrog ended this fight quite quickly, and a puzzle that could not be completed as yet.

After being unlocked (see below), the puzzle had a Runestone (+1 Strength) in the hidden chamber, which was possessed. Kangrog resisted the possession with such ease, it seemed to not even happen…

Left Chamber and Library

A fight with Cultists and two wizards, the remaining party ended this fight quite quickly with Janets fireball, and found a lever that opened the puzzle for the team on the right.

That level triggered a mimic for the team on the Right, who took it out and found their runstone of Strength. This team also found a chest, that when opened, was also a mimic (cue laughs)

After being defeated the mimic had a Runestone (+1 Dexterity) in the hidden chamber, along with the Sword noted at the end of this post.

Gold Vault and Traps

This was Senko’s moment to shine, but choose to dash past instead and turn off the traps, leaving the wealth behind to be gathered at a later time.

Senko rolled very well (for a change), and dragged the party into the final fight.

Central Chamber

A big fight that went on for far too longer, Some nice spellwork from the new players, with lightning and fire flying everywhere, the Gardener and Terr were summoned to help, and Buv’Kah’s hired Mercs, Ettins and Bugbears were laid low fairly qucikly when faced with 9 Adventurers.

Final Boss

Ivy/Nameless Poly Morphed the boss while everyone was hinting it was time to call it, so we ended the session there.

Found Loot: Dancing Shortsword

Weapon (shortsword), very rare (requires attunement)

You can take a Bonus Action to toss this magic weapon into the air. When you do so, the weapon begins to hover, flies up to 30 feet, and attacks one creature of your choice within 5 feet of itself. The weapon uses your attack roll and adds your ability modifier to damage rolls.

While the weapon hovers, you can take a Bonus Action to cause it to fly up to 30 feet to another spot within 30 feet of you. As part of the same Bonus Action, you can cause the weapon to attack one creature within 5 feet of the weapon.

After the hovering weapon attacks for the fourth time, it flies back to you and tries to return to your hand. If you have no hand free, the weapon falls to the ground in your space. If the weapon has no unobstructed path to you, it moves as close to you as it can and then falls to the ground. It also ceases to hover if you grasp it or are more than 30 feet away from it.

Proficiency with a Shortsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

(Senko has the sword)
